Panoramic tour of Vilnius. During the visit, most of which will be made on foot along the Old Town, we will go by the Presidential Palace, the official residence of the President of Lithuania. We will admire many Art Nouveau buildings and the Vilnius Synagogue in the Gediminas Avenue, the main thoroughfare of Vilnius. At its end stands the Cathedral of Vilnius. It was a part of the vast Vilnius Castle Complex, which included also the Upper Castle, the Lower Castle, the Royal Palace and the Castle Arsenals. The whole is dominated by the Gediminas Tower, rising from the prominent Castle Hill, above the old town. In the course of our promenade through the splendid historical centre, we will admire the church of Saint Anne, the church of Peter and Paul, the church of Saint Francis and Saint Bernardino and the Orthodox Theotokos Cathedral. We will also see the Renaissance St. Michael Church, and St. Nicolas Church, the most ancient in Lithuania. Inside the courtyards of the Vilnius University, the oldest in the Baltic States, we will find the church of St. John. The Vilnius Town Hall is a beautiful expression of the 18th century Neoclassicism. Nearby is situated the Choral Synagogue. We will end our walk at the Dawn Gates, under the old city walls.
